Box Office Game is a daily movie puzzle where you identify the top 5 films from a specific box office weekend using redacted clues that you unlock by spending points.
Each day drops a new weekend from box office history. Your job is to name all five movies that topped the charts. Start with almost nothing: just the distributor, gross earnings, and whether it's a new release or a holdover. Every other detail (tagline, plot, genre, director, cast, budget) is hidden behind asterisks.
You begin with 200 points and 10 guesses. Spend points to reveal clues for a specific movie, or take a guess and risk a miss. Each wrong guess costs you one of your limited attempts. Get all five right to maximize your score.
- Type a movie title to guess. Autocomplete helps you search.
- Spend points to reveal individual hints (tagline, plot, genre, director, actors, budget).
- Each hint costs between 5 and 180 points depending on how revealing it is.
- You have 10 total guesses across all five films.
- A new box office weekend appears daily.
Why we like it:
- β Turns box office trivia into a strategic puzzle about when to spend and when to guess.
- β Pulls from real historical weekends, so you're learning actual film history as you play.
- β High scores demand both movie knowledge and careful point management.
Hint: Start with the biggest earners. A new release in slot one with a major distributor is often easier to deduce than a third week holdover with a smaller gross. Save your points for the deep cuts.
