Objective

Arrange all 10 polyominoes on the grid so that only today's date, month, and weekday remain uncovered.

Playlin'sGuide

Daydoku is a daily calendar puzzle where your mission is to arrange 10 polyominoes on a grid so that only today's date, month, and weekday remain uncovered.

You're given a calendar grid and a set of Tetris-like shapes: 3 tetrominoes and 7 pentominoes. Your goal is to tile them perfectly so every square is covered except the three that mark the current day. It's part spatial logic, part trial and error, and entirely satisfying when it clicks.

  • Place all 10 polyominoes on the calendar grid without overlap.
  • Rotate and flip pieces to find the right fit.
  • Leave only the current day, month, and weekday visible.
  • Multiple solutions exist, so there's no single right answer.
  • A new puzzle drops every day based on the calendar.

How it works:

Start by eyeing the target date and surrounding spaces. The largest pieces, the pentominoes, define the puzzle's skeleton, so tackle those first. They eat up space fast and limit where smaller pieces can go. Once the big shapes are down, the tetrominoes usually fall into place.

Every piece can be rotated and flipped, which opens up way more possibilities than you'd think. If you hit a dead end, pull a few pieces back and try a different orientation. The puzzle rewards experimentation, and there's no penalty for rearranging.

Why we like it:

  • βœ…Scratches the same itch as Tetris but with a tidy, finite goal.
  • βœ…Multiple solutions mean you can solve it your way and still win.
  • βœ…Quick enough for a coffee break but tricky enough to feel earned.

Hint: Corners and edges are your friends. Lock down the border areas first with your bulkiest pieces, then work inward. The middle of the grid is the most flexible space, so save it for last when your options are clearer.
